Three Whitetail Rut Facts You Need to Know Now

It’s on.  The whitetail deer rut starts in October and runs into November.  Hunters across the U.S. spend time and money to get the inside track on when the rut occurs in their area, and with good reason.  The rut makes whitetail bucks unwary and a bit downright stupid as hormones surge through their bloodstreams and urge them toward one prime directive–find a mate and breed.

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out this is the best time to put venison in the freezer, and venison with antlers in particular.  Here’s a great video from Deer and Deer Hunting which will arm you for this special time.  Sit back, learn, then go into the field and bust ’em.
