Ruger Firearms announced on Friday their popular bolt-action Scout Rifle is now chambered in .450 Bushmaster and available in stainless steel with a synthetic stock. This caliber takes the Scout Rifle into new territory. Combined with the powerful .450 Bushmaster cartridge, the Scout should make a handy carbine for deer, elk, moose, and bear. Its compact dimensions make it a great choice for hunting in dense cover or from a blind, and give hunters an alternative to Ruger’s guide gun series.
This new Scout Rifle, like its predecessors, offers a smooth, controlled-feed bolt-action and the ability to use large capacity, detachable magazines. The gun features an aperture rear sight, forward mounted Picatinny rail, and a muzzle brake. Fitted with a long-eye relief scope or red-dot optic, this little thumper is ideal for fast, up close action on dangerous game. Heck, I might even get one.
