Third Montana Bear Attack in Three Weeks

A bear attacked a hunter near Hungry Horse Reservoir in Montana on Sunday, September 24th, 2017, according to Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks.  Details are sketchy.  Neither the bear’s species or the hunter’s injuries are known at this time.  The hunter and a partner reportedly shot at the bear which terminated the attack with unknown injuries to the bear.  This marks the third bear attack in the state in as many weeks.  The first two were perpetrated by grizzly bears.  Given the area in the third instance is not far from both Glacier National Park and the Bob Marshall Wilderness, there is a high probability this one involved a grizzly as well.
